The boats listed below will be available for use. The club boats are there to help get new members on the water, but are available to all Competent Sailing Members. If you need any assistance on how to rig the boats please contact commodore@balasc.co.uk to arrange a quick lesson.

Please make yourself aware of the following before booking a club boat:

  1. All Users must be full sailing club members
  2. Users must be RYA level 2 qualified or have been assessed competent to use the club boats
  3. No boats can be used without safety cover in winds above force 3
  4. Under 16s are not to use Club Boats without safety cover
  5. Club Boats can not be used at all in winds above force 6
  6. Double handed boats (Dart 16, Magno and Bahia) are not to be sailed single handed without safety cover, due to increased risk of entrapment with these boats.

  8. Boats must be put away correctly with covers on
  9. On signing the club boat form, users (parents/guardians of under 16s) agree to provide reimbursement of the club insurance excess (£500) or to arrange and pay for repair of the club boat if any major damage is caused.
  10. The Committee reserve the right to decline use of Club Boats to any member
  11. Sailing without safety cover is not without increased risk and if doing so the Club advises you to arrange to sail with another member, when Sailing without safety cover you accept full responsibility for your own safety (you are advised to carry a phone in a waterproof pouch and to let others know when you are expected back ashore)
  12. When Sailing without safety cover you are strongly advised to where a head protection such as a kayaking style helmet (one of the biggest risks is being knocked unconscious into the water)
  13. Restricted Sailing Area club boats sailed without safety cover are restricted to the clubhouse end of the lake no boat to be taken past the club moorings
