BSC Junior Sailing Update for 2025 Season

• The club has been supporting a range of Youth/Junior Sailing Programmes for many years ans we have decided to re-align some of our programmes ans our volenteer instructor resource for 2025 with a focus into further developing our BSC Youth sailors.
• We have planned to do this by merging our Monday/Tuesday after school sailing programme into a new Saturday junior sailing and coaching programme.
• The programme will follow the RYA youth sailing framework and associated qualified instructor procedures to give a clear plan of delivery for instructing and learning.
• The programme will be open and free to all 2025 club members age 16 or under who can already sail a boat and have a level of knowlege similar to what is outlined in the RYA Youth sailing stage 1 (see below)
  • Note: Our August Junior/Youth Learn to sail programme is designed for non sailors.
• It will follow the RYA Framework Youth stages as we have done for many years on our after school programme but clearly with the aim og having fun while learning and gaining confidence in a range of sailing skills and knowledge.
• It will be run with a list of confirmed dates so as to not conflict with a busy and exciting sailing and instructing calendar for 2025.
• The programme will run from 10.000am-1:00pmpacked away/finished giving the volunteer instructors their own time for free sailing.
• By following the RYA Youth sailing framework, if requested we could issue certificates of completion and at a small cost issue TYA training and log books.
• When people have registered interest to join the programme we will setup a new Whatsapp group to manage communications and updates etc.
• Parents are welcome to help and get involved with the programme with guidance from the instructors on the day.
• It is important any attendee on the programme up to the age of 11 years old has a parent/carer on site at the club. 12-16 year olds must have a parent/carer contactable and be able to be on site within 20 minutes. We will have a register on each of the days where this information will be recorded.
• Clearly as with any course we will be asking attendees to complete a registration to the programme with personal information such as medical conditions, medication, permission to photograph etc.
