Catamaran Fleet

From 2017 onwards, Bala Sailing Club became the adopted home of what was the Bala Catamaran Club as they lost their venue at the far end of the lake. Whilst no longer a separate club, you will find a large number of catamarans on the foreshore and forming part of club life.

As well as hosting an annual Multihull Open which attracts a wide range of boats from across the country, we have also
held single class opens and Nationals for classes such as Catapults and Shearwaters.

Our catamaran owners do not (currently) form a big part of our club racing scene, with their owners tending to enjoy long runs to the end of the lake although we are aiming to understand their racing wishes moree and bring this into our future racing calendar. We have a postion on our commitee for a Catamaran fleet representative held by John Hackett, a very experienced Catamaran sailor to drive this forward.

If you are a general sailing member and fancy experiencing the fun of a catamaran, a number of our members happily take other members out as crew to give them a taster of cat life. Just ask on the Whatsapp group if you are interested!
